Biodiversity Training
& Real Estate
In partnership with Qualitel Formation, IRICE offers 4 training levels to integrate biodiversity into your real estate and development projects.
Training eligible for OPCO funding
Level 1 — Integrating biodiversity into construction and renovation projects
Ref. ENV34PUnderstand biodiversity challenges in construction, learn how to promote biodiversity at every project stage (from planning to end-of-life), and identify existing tools (regulations, certifications) for integrating biodiversity into real estate projects.
Syllabus
- Understanding biodiversity: conservation challenges, ecosystem services, ecological networks, causes of decline, ordinary urban biodiversity
- Construction sector challenges: impacts on biodiversity, concept of grey biodiversity
- Implementation: ecological assessment, building greening, species selection, fauna-friendly features, rainwater management
- Construction phase: managing impacts during execution
- Operation: differentiated green space management, occupant awareness, urban agriculture
- Tools and examples: regulations (ERC sequence, Biodiversity Act), certifications (HQE, BREEAM), specific labels and certifications, biomimicry and biophilia
Prerequisites
No prerequisites.
Assessment and validation
End-of-training multiple-choice quiz to validate objectives
Teaching methods
In-person or virtual classroom: expository and active teaching (illustrated cases and case studies)
Level 2 — Become a Biodiversity Partner (NCO & EVO standards)
Ref. ENV76PUnderstand the Effinature certification framework and process, position yourself as a Biodiversity Partner, master the structure and requirements of the New Construction (NCO) and Evolution (EVO) standards, and produce auditable evidence.
Syllabus
- Day 1 — Structuring your mission and mastering the standards:
- Biodiversity Partner role and certification framework: process, project team integration, qualification procedure
- NCO and EVO standards, design phase: structure, themes (Soil, Flora, Fauna, Impacts, Well-being, Skills), mandatory vs contextual criteria
- Evidence production and auditability: verifiability, enforceability, BP co-responsibility
- Practical workshop: building an Effinature file on a fictional case
- Day 2 — Analysing deliverables and championing the approach:
- NCO and EVO standards, construction phase: site challenges, evidence collection, ecological assessment
- Submitting files to IRICE: expected formats, submission platform
- Promoting advisory services to developers: local authorities, planners, promoters, investors
- Examples of certified projects in new construction and renovation
Prerequisites
Prerequisites vary based on experience and qualifications (eligibility grid available on request). Without initial training in ecology, biology or environmental science, Level 1 completion is mandatory.
Assessment and validation
End-of-training MCQ (70% pass rate required, 2 retake sessions available within 30 days). Training certificate and 3-year qualification issued.
Teaching methods
In-person or virtual classroom: expository (illustrated examples) and active (case studies) teaching
Level 3 — Biodiversity Partner HOR (Urban Development)
Obtain the Biodiversity Partner qualification for the Horizon / Urban Development (HOR) scope. Master the specifics of biodiversity assessment at urban development scale, mixed-use zones (ZAC) and large-scale operations.
Syllabus
- HOR standard: specificities of urban development and large-scale operations
- Biodiversity assessment at territorial scale: connectivity, networks, ecological corridors
- Alignment with planning documents (local planning, development zones)
- BPS calculation at development scale — practical exercises
- Case studies: mixed-use zones, eco-districts, large-scale operations
Prerequisites
Active Biodiversity Partner qualification (Level 2 validated). Experience in environmental assessment at development scale.
Assessment and validation
End-of-training MCQ + certificate issued
Teaching methods
In-person or virtual classroom
Level 4 — Biodiversity Partner HVE (Operation)
Obtain the qualification to conduct High Ecological Value (HVE) assessments during the operation phase, post-delivery. Master the HVE addendum and the inspection protocol.
Syllabus
- HVE addendum: framework, requirements, alignment with NCO/EVO/HOR
- Operation specificities: differentiated management, ecological monitoring, indicators
- HVE inspection protocol: milestones, deliverables, trigger conditions
- Post-delivery ecological monitoring indicators
- Field case studies and real-conditions assessment
Prerequisites
Active Biodiversity Partner qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 validated). Experience of at least 2 assessments as a BP.
Assessment and validation
End-of-training MCQ + certificate issued
Teaching methods
