Scientific work in support of certification and biodiversity

Certification rooted in scientific reality

At IRICE, we don't see certification as a fixed tool.

Our standards, indicators and assessment tools are constantly evolving, thanks to:
Applied research,
Field analyses,
Partnerships with experts, researchers and institutions.

💬 Each Effinature and BPS indicator is the culmination of rigorous work, scientifically validated, field-tested and collectively debated.

Useful research, directly integrated into operational tools

Our scientific projects have a simple objective:

➡️ Improve the quality of real estate and development projects through fair, relevant and reproducible biodiversity criteria.

In particular, we are working on :

  • Ecological performance indicators in urban environments,
  • Integrating biodiversity into architectural design,
  • Ecological management in the operational phase,
  • Assessing impacts on health, climate resilience and the living world.

A contribution to public policy and standardization

Some of our work is carried out in conjunction with public agencies, local authorities and ministerial departmentsin order to :
Informing future regulatory choices,
Propose reproducible assessment tools,
Anticipate future needs for biodiversity certification.

📌 IRICE is today a contributor to several institutional programs, at the crossroads of sustainable cities, biodiversity and ecological transition.

Examples of projects in progress or recently completed

🧪 Urban BiodiverScore
Development of a simplified ecological performance indicator for existing urban fabrics.

🌿 Post-delivery biodiversity monitoring
Longitudinal study of ecological performance on Effinature-certified sites.

🏘 Biodiversity & health
Work on the correlation between renaturation and health benefits (islands of freshness, well-being, perception of nature).

📈 Biodiversity rating tool for investors
Development of a rating grid that can be integrated into ESG matrices.

An approach supported by the Biodiversity Standard Council

All research results that may have an impact on the structure of our standards are :
Presented and validated by the Biodiversity Standard Council,
Integrated into future versions of our certifications and labels,
Publicly communicated in the interests of transparency.

🎯 IRICE thus acts as a bridge between research, professionals and institutions.
